How to Choose the Perfect Wedding Date Using Numerology according Brides.com

Now that you’re engaged, there are several major decisions you’ll be required to make once the wedding planning process begins. But before you set your sights on choosing your wedding party and deciding on a color scheme, there’s one big task you’ll need to check off your to-do list prior to beginning your “journey to the aisle”—that is, selecting your upcoming wedding date.

While choosing a date for your union might seem impossible at first, you’ll soon realize that there are many ways to make this decision in an easy and straightforward manner. For instance, you can opt to select a day that holds significant meaning to your relationship or choose a time based on when your dream wedding venue is available. You can even use the process of numerology to determine the best day and time to walk down the aisle, which Tiffany McGee, a spirituality and numerology expert, highly encourages.

“When it comes to marriage, selecting a date with favorable numerical energy potentially sets the foundation for a harmonious and prosperous relationship,” she shares.

How Numerology Works

Numerology is an ancient practice that was started by the Greek philosopher Pythagoras. He shared that numbers are a gateway to understanding the Universe and that dates carry intrinsic energies that affect one’s success and impact life events. As time went on, individuals continued to study the art and science of numerology, creating methods for people to understand and use this practice in their daily lives.

So, how does it work? According to McGee, each number in a date is added together until a single digit—or 11, 22, or 33, all of which are master numbers, meaning they cannot be reduced to one number—is achieved to produce a root number. For example, the date October 1, 2023, would be reduced to a single digit by adding 1+0 (for October as the 10th month) +1+2+0+2+3, which equals 9. This final number is then used to interpret the date’s vibrational meaning. “The belief is that each number (from 1 to 9) carries specific attributes: Some are considered to bring balance, others are thought to foster growth and strength, and yet others might encourage love and unity,” McGee further explains. You can also use words to obtain a root number, as numerology assigns a specific numerical value to each letter of the alphabet (A=1, B=2, C=3, etc.), and these values are used to find numerical patterns in names and important words.

The concept of a life path number is also central in numerology. “[Life path numbers are] calculated from a person’s birthdate and represent the individual’s personality, inherent traits, and life journey’s overarching themes,” says McGee. “To calculate a life path number, you add each unit of the birth date (month, day, and year) until you reach a single digit.” Therefore, if someone was born on November 24, 1998, you’d calculate the life path number by adding 1+1 (for November as the 11th month) +2+4+1+9+9+8, which equals 35. You then add 3+5 to get a life path number of 8. From there, you can find out the meaning of your life path number by doing a quick search online.

How to Choose Your Wedding Date Using Numerology

When trying to figure out the best date to tie the knot, McGee advises couples to first calculate each person’s life path number. That’s because the chosen wedding date should be compatible with both life path numbers for the best energetic alignment. “For instance, if one partner has a life path number of 3 and the other 5, selecting a date that reduces to 3, 5, or 8 (the sum of both) could be considered favorable,” she explains. “In this case, you should avoid dates that reduce to 4 or 8, which can be associated with hard work and potential challenges, unless these are your life path numbers.”

Couples can also take it a step further and ensure they are only selecting a date that reduces to a number that’s intrinsically favorable. McGee explains:

  • The number 1 is considered auspicious for weddings as it signifies a new beginning and the start of a new chapter. It embodies the idea of unity—two becoming one—which resonates well with the concept of marriage.
  • The number 2 symbolizes partnership, harmony, and balance. Perfect for a day focused on union and commitment.
  • The number 3 emphasizes communication, creativity, and expression. Suitable for a lively and vibrant celebration.
  • The number 6 is connected to domestic happiness and responsibility. A nurturing number for starting a family.
  • The number 7 denotes introspection and spiritual depth. Good for a couple who values contemplation and soulful bonding.
  • The number 9 signifies humanitarianism and completion. A universal number that supports broad aspirations; closing cycles; and suggests the culmination of single life and the fulfillment that a marriage brings.

Lastly, couples can use astrology and numerology simultaneously by considering the position of planets and zodiac signs on their preferred numerology-approved date. “Zodiac compatibility and planetary alignments can influence the harmony of the marriage,” shares McGee. “For example, Venus, the planet of love, in a favorable position on the wedding day can enhance romantic energy, while avoiding dates when Mercury is retrograde may prevent communication mishaps.”

That said, while it’s nice to select a date that is favorable for you and your partner, don’t place too much stress on finding the perfect number. Your wedding day is guaranteed to be special no matter when you choose to say “I do.”
